Dr. Avery is a proud St. Charles resident, living here for more than 30 years. However, she is actually a Kansas City girl and grew up in Belton, MO, south of Kansas City.
She attended University of Missouri, Columbia and transferred to graduate from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana with a degree in Microbiology. After undergraduate work, she worked in medical research at the Indiana University School of Medicine for several years. Her next stop was Optometry School at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where she graduated in 1985.
A desire to return to Missouri got her as far as St. Louis and she has practiced in this area for 34 years. Her career began at Group Health Plan and in 1989 opening her first private practice, Mid Rivers Vision Care in St. Peters. Later that practice moved closer to St. Charles and became Eye Associates of St. Charles. Today that practice has merged with Regional Eyecare Associates and Dr. Avery now sees patients at the Cave Springs location.
